Jen Amato Photography Blog bio picture
  • Hi, my name is Jen and I am a Natural Light Photographer based out of New Orleans! Welcome! I specialize in Engagement, Maternity, Family, Children, and Birth Photography. As a wife and mom of 5, I understand how important capturing those fleeting moments are. Making my clients feel comfortable in front of the lens, photographing priceless memories and building relationships with people in the process are my main goals. There's always lots of fun couples, sweet families and precious babies gracing the presence of my site! Be sure to check back, I'm always posting new sessions! Click the "Information" tab above to email me if you're interested in scheduling a shoot :) I can't wait to hear from you!

Jack :: Children

I’ve been photographing Jack since he was just a tiny little newborn! It’s been great watching him grow, I can’t believe he’s already 1!! It’s a real honor to be a child’s photographer during their first year of life and so on over the years. Photographing kids never gets old to me, it’s always an adventure. It puts a smile on my face from shooting until the editing. It’s entertaining, that’s for sure! We headed to City Park to take these, it was a beautiful day. It was great having Joey and Kiley there for a few photos. City Park is where I took their Maternity photos right before Jack entered the world! Love that little face!

Below are some of my favorites of MR. JACK!!

Cesily :: Children

I had an awesome time photographing Cesily last week for her 15 month session! She was so smiley and cute! My favorite ones are of her running around in her pink tutu under the oak trees. She was kicking the leaves all around and throwing them in the air. What a beautiful baby girl!

On a side note: I’ve had a lot of people inquire about ‘The Easter Mini Session’ this year. I will have all details up on the blog early next week, so be on the lookout. It will include where, what day, what time, price and what the package includes. I’ll be brainstorming all weekend to come up with something good!! :)

Here are some that I loved:

Andy & Holly :: Wedding

Andy and Holly married on February 19, 2011! You may remember their Engagement Session I did recently. Preparation was held at Holly’s friends home, the Ceremony was at Sacred Heart Chapel on St. Charles and the Reception was at The Board of Trade. When I walked in to shoot Holly’s prep, I realized her flowers looked familiar. They were beautiful!! I was happy to find out that she also used Erin Steen for her Wedding flowers, just as I did!

Randy and I photographed this Wedding the night before heading to Vegas for WPPI. So needless to say we were both full of excitement that night! The guests were hilarious, I loved the outfit change during the reception. Guests wore sunglasses, sparkly hats and sequined jackets! Loved the Lucky Dog stand, always makes for fun photos!

Andy & Holly, I hope you guys enjoyed your honeymoon! Thank you for allowing us to capture such a special day, we had fun!

Mallory :: Newborn

I had a great time photographing Mallory, she was soo well behaved for me! With the nicer weather, I’m excited to head back outside for my newborn shoots. I have always loved the warm natural light when it’s available. I know her mom Christi has been anxious to see her little peanut’s photos… so here she is!!

Tyler :: 3 Months

Sweet little Tyler is moving right along with his “Grow With Me” Package! We took these last week at Lafrienire Park and he did great! His mom had some fun ideas, love the Mardi Gras hat! I feel like the “Grow With Me” keeps moms on track with photographing every 3 months for the first year, when sometimes they would forget or get too busy. I am so thankful for someone asking me to start this program almost a year ago! It’s fun soaking up all the precious smiles and laughs of the cuties I get to photograph on a weekly basis.

Well it’s Friday afternoon and after our mini trip to Vegas I have thrown myself back into work full force, I had two great sessions I shot this week that I can’t wait to share. Tonight I am looking forward to spending time with 10 of my closest girlfriends over dinner. I learned alot at WPPI, one thing was remember to make a life and learning when to clock out. I have a few hours of work ahead of me until I can have some fun, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to have a weekend off with friends and family. Will share more about my trip to Vegas and what I soaked in at WPPI with you soon- sometime next week…

Have a great weekend everyone- the weather is gorgeous. Counting my blessings for many things today :)
