Hey gang, so this is what I’m working on this week! It’s so funny because I’ll go through spurts where everyone seems to have their baby at the same time. I’ve done alot of newborn shoots lately and have a good bit coming up! Photographing children brings me so much happiness, I feel very lucky to get to capture all these adorable kids at such precious times in their lives!

Just going through some images from this past weekend and this one stuck out so I wanted to post it. I said “girls…. act sassy, do something moody.” This is what they gave me ;) Love it!
It’s 9:30 on Tuesday night and I’m editing, my feet are cold. Where did this weather come from? I need Tori’s jacket she’s wearing in this picture! My session today welcomed me to Winter shooting! I’m just sitting here and the guys are putting new sheet rock in the bathroom right now. Their working, I guess I will too! We need a Christmas TREE! This weekend!! yay! I’ve had too much Diet Dr. Pepper tonight if you can’t already tell.

It’s 10:30pm and I’m up editing. I need to wash my hair, load the dishwasher, do laundry and mop the floor. I’d rather be editing, it’s way more fun than chores! ;) I’m getting through one of the busiest weeks I’ve ever had and oddly I feel calm. 5 Shoots, 2 Meetings, and a Wedding. I swear some weeks I drive myself crazy obsessing about getting everything done and sometimes I’m cool as a cucumber knowing in the back of my mind, I need to chill. Eating a snack on the front porch with the dogs has been fun when I need a break, the weather has been awesome lately. We live really close to a school, so usually when I go outside I can hear the kids outside laughing and playing from the next street over. They must be out at recess. Makes me smile every time.
I’ve been editing so much lately, Randy has now become obsessed with playing HALO. I can hear him as I type this. He’s screaming at the TV from the next room… “Hurry up, he’s coming! Watcch out dudee!” Seriously, the controller in his hand and headphones in his ears. He logs in and connects with his friends, so it’s like they all play online together or something. Whatever, at least he’s occupied while I get through the next few weeks, HAHA! I’m terrible.
What are all you newlywed’s eating for dinner? I’m finding it hard to come up with stuff to eat. Randy’s is Mr. Meat & Potatoes and I like everything, especially vegetables and salads. It’s kind of hard to find something we both like, unless we throw on steaks, make crock pot roast or spaghetti which is always easy for 2. I need to cook more. I did make some awesome turkey burgers the other night.
Turkey Burgers:
1 Pack of 97% FF Ground Turkey
1/4th of a Granny Smith Apple (minced)
1/4th of a Red Onion (Minced)
4 Dashes of Wisticher Sauce
Salt/Pepper to Taste
* Combine ingredients in a bowl and form into Burgers.
* It makes 4 Burgers and I just grilled them in a pan with a little olive oil.
* I topped them with slices of Avacado and made a mustard dipping sauce
It was pretty tassssty I must say ;)
Anyway, my break is over… back to editing and typing up a wedding contract.

I had a great time today at the Picayune Photography Workshop that I attended today. I met lots of new photography friends and learned some new tricks. Being in my third year of business, I know there is still a TON for me to learn. My brain is like a sponge and I am thirsty for knowledge. I never get tired of learning new techniques, I don’t ever want to get boring! I always want to stay fresh and keep up with what’s going on around me. Doing workshops reminds me of my college days of being in large groups learning, but now it’s just a whole lot more meaningful! I just wanted to share one of my favorites from today! I am just about to wrap up work for today. I stayed up really late last night working on edits from this weeks shoots. I will have new blog posts starting on Monday of some recent work. I photographed Cooper’s 3 Month photos this morning. I am so excited his momma jumped on board for the ‘Grow With Me’ package and I can’t wait to see this little one get older! He is so dang cute, more to come soon!

Here’s a little peek from Kelly & Pete’s Wedding this past Saturday. Hope to have a full post up on Monday! It’s been a pretty intense week of work and editing. Some days I feel like a little train chugging right along and taking breaks just to fill up on fuel :) Keep your eye out for this wedding because the photos are going to be crazy- I’ve never seen so much dancing and energy at a wedding before! The pictures are hilarious!
Headed to Martha Mayer Dancing School tonight to shoot Round One of the photos for the dance program. It will continue on Friday until about 8-9pm. On a side note, I basically pulled my arm out yesterday doing pull ups at Crossfit Gym. (Circuit training exercise) I can’t bend it all the way outward. I’m just glad its not my shooting arm because then I would be in trouble.
This past Saturday I photographed Samantha and Cristian’s Wedding. He is in the US Navy, as you can tell from his Wedding Attire :) I am just getting caught up with portrait session editing, so I am moving right along to working on their Wedding photos. I just wanted to give a little glimpse from the day! More to come soon.

Oohh and by the way- our Wedding is exactly 2 months away. How did that happen?
Sometimes I have days were I am just plain old happy! Today was one of those days. It’s like I can’t really pinpoint why or whats different about today than any regular day, but days like this just…. feel different. Maybe it happens when I remember to slow down a little? Yesterday, I worked all morning on album design, editing, album assembly, emails, etc… then left my office around 2pm to go get my hair colored and cut. I stopped at the grocery afterward to get something for Randy and I to eat for dinner, so I didn’t get back until around 5ish. He had a softball game last night with his friends, so I was like okay, good – this will give me a little more time to work tonight in a quiet house. (Minus the barking dog next door- ugh!) So anyway, around 8pm- Randy came back from the game and we made dinner. It’s kind of weird, but whenever we decide to cook and make a ‘night out of it’…. it ALWAYS goes down the same way. My chill out drink of choice is Pinot Noir and Randy likes lighter beers. Cheese and Wheat Thins accompany our drinks while we cook. We always have some type of meat, Randy bakes a starch in the oven for himself and I grill veggies for me. We always have Lite Caesar salad to start. I think we need to break this routine and we will ….. eventually! We need to branch out and cook something else!! I guess once we’re all settled in under the same roof in a couple of months, we will. We just have this system going and it works. And cooking at home is sooo much cheaper and more fun than going out to eat, we totally enjoy it! :)
Back to my point. Today was a great day because last night I caught a breather. No special occasion, just reminded myself to slow down and enjoy doing something nice together, just us. I woke up in a better mood which I’ve carried throughout the day. The emails in my inbox have reminded me how great my clients are and how thankful I am to do what I do. Just wanted to remember not to let the passing of a non exciting yet pleasant day slip by without documenting the feeling.
This afternoon I had a little time to buy some gifts online for Our Wedding Party. They are so cute, wish I could BLAB to everyone what I found, but I guess it’ll be a waiting game :( I want to give everyone their gifts like… RIGHT NOW! I’ve always been good with keeping things under wraps but the Wedding Stuff is killing me!
Tonight I have bootcamp and we’re taking a little field trip! Instead of meeting at the park and doing our regular routine, we are headed to the levee on this beautiful day! I can’t wait! It’s the last night of Session 2! Which means Guerre treats everyone to huge Smoothies for finishing strong! (Each Session is 4 weeks = 12 classes) Wow, have I really completed 24 class of bootcamp so far? I’m just realizing this! Session 3 starts up in a couple weeks. You can bet I’m riding this train until the Wedding!
Sometimes I feel like when I write blog entries like this- I am literally talking to myself. Hahaha! Oh well!

Took a break today to go for a bike ride on the levee with my friend Noelle. The weather was perfect! I am really loving the time change, I feel like I can get so much more accomplished in a day with more light. Maybe its just me. Every now and then I will change things up just to feel refreshed. Do ya’ll ever do that? Last night- I couldn’t sleep until my bedroom was spotless. I guess you can say I was in Spring Cleaning mode! I rearranged every piece of furniture so my room would have a new look, I dusted, vacuumed, cleaned my bathroom, put clothes away, cleaned the baseboards, hung up some artwork, and washed my sheets. This morning I woke up and felt like a million bucks! Sometimes just freshening some things up can really have a positive effect on the way I go through the week. When my life is organized- my brain works better :)
Not enough hours in the day lately. Not sure what else to say. I just got home from Bootcamp. Yes, I am still doing Bootcamp – 3 Months Later. It allows me to do something for myself 3 times a week. It keeps me from being lazy and working too much. (If that even makes sense?) I’m tired tonight and sore! Decided I wanted to share a photo from today. I sit here relaxing to Pandora radio – listening to The Postal Service, The Strokes, Coldplay, Band of Horses, Kings of Leon, etc.. I notice my style lately leaning towards this type of music. Edgy, Vintage, Classic, Unique, Interesting, Shabby, Chic – I love that combination of words. It fits the way I’m looking at things lately. Music helps alot- it gets me through editing blocks or photography ruts. It gets monotonous sitting at a computer most of the day. My shoots have been my escape lately. It’s like…. YESSSS I get to leave my desk for a little while, I get to chat with my clients – laugh and smile. It’s fun. It’s makes being a photographer exciting. Today for instance, I basically dabbled with my creativity, I was able to set up a scene. I try to do something different each time if possible. Purchased some props this morning, arrived to my shoot, walked around, checked lighting, set up, and played dress up. Here is a sneak peek of Baby Faith. You may remember her parents Holly & Guerre. I just did their Maternity photos a couple of months ago.
Anyway, just saying hello and that I’m trucking through this week. 8 Shoots (2 Down, 6 to Go!) Be on the lookout for some posts!! :)

Here’s just a few from my session with Holly & Guerre this past Friday. These were taken in City Park – love that place, there is always tons of cool spots to shoot. I woke up this morning with one thought “Wow, last week really flew by!” I enjoyed the time spent with my family and friends over Christmas and was sad to see it go by so quick. It’s Monday and riding the wave begins again :) I picked up my 5D Markii this afternoon after not holding it for about a week, it felt good. I’ve been carrying around my tiny Powershot which weighs nothing compared to my Markii.
I had the pleasure of photographing Jen and Seth’s Engagement Session this afternoon. I went to High School with Jen and facebook has allowed us to keep in touch with each other. She wants a Napa Wedding and is going to check out a few places over New Years. Talk about gorgeous, can’t wait to hear her wedding plans! Anyway, here are just a few shots from today…more to come soon once I get caught up with editing. The new year is fast approaching and I have 500 resolutions flying through my head, in a few days I hope to turn my thoughts into a blog post then into actions.

Okay, so I apologize for all these sneak peeks lately! You’re probably just like show the whole post already!! I’ve been super busy trying to catch up with everyone’s photos before the Holidays and also before the new wave of clients roll in next week. Full photo posts take a while to watermark, upload, type and blog. That’s why I like when ya’ll leave me comments, it makes it worth it! :) One of these nights I’m going to stay up late and work on some good posts!
The blog seems to get neglected when my schedule gets too full. (as well as my laundry) This weeks been crazy but I’m not complaining! I’ve had shoots to edit, photo orders to fill, albums to assemble, emails and phone calls to answer, and lastly photo CD’s to burn for all my awesome clients who are taking advantage of buying them, Hoorray!! Love it! Next week I am booked with shoots every single day, except on Thanksgiving day. Needless to say, I will be hanging out with my fam at my grandmothers eating some Turkey :) I can’t wait!! I’m sure I’ll go into a food coma from eating too much, as usual!
Okay…..so on to the sneak peek. Here’s Jessica and Sean from this past Saturday. They were the sweetest couple. Dre and I had a great time shooting their wedding. Can’t wait to post more, however I’m still editing. Hope ya’ll are having a great honeymoon!
Evan Walker is a sweet little boy that lives just two houses down from me! He has the cutest personality and is I’d say he’s quite the model. He totally hammed it up in front the camera, I love when I get little one’s who aren’t afraid to have their picture taken and just go with it!
This is Evan with his poodle Mickey! Ruff Ruff, I hear this little yapper barking all the time and boy is he fast. He got out and we literally chased him for 10 minutes to come back inside. He runs fast like a little rabbit, haha!

Soo, this morning I photographed Tiphanie & Martin’s Engagement session, we had a blast cruising around Audubon Golf Course in a golf cart!! They were so fun that I just wanted to share a few right away… lots more to come later! I’ve had a SUPER busy week with the photography conference and today’s my first day back at my desk in a couple of days, so I’m editing away.
The Pictage Partner Conference here in NOLA was awesome… listened to some amazing photographers speak. I’ll talk more about some things I soaked in later when I get some time.

I photographed Jennifer & Kevin’s Couples Portraits this past Saturday downtown. We found lots of cool new spots, I had a great time with these two! As you can tell… they are a gorgeous couple!! The flower looked so cute in Jen’s hair. You can ask just about every girl that I’ve photographed, I have this obsession with hair flowers. If I see a beautiful flower, I usually pick it and the next thing that comes out of my mouth is… “Let’s do a couple of shots with this in your hair”! I wear fake flower hair pins alot, so that could be it? They are so feminine and I just like the splash of color they always add to portraits.

I photographed Baby Jack this morning, today he made 9 weeks old. The weather was slightly overcast, yet the sun peeked through. A light breeze surrounded Jack as he lay in his little basket. He drifted right to sleep and we hated to wake him to move locations/props. This is one from today, he looks so comfy! I wish I could fall asleep outside, I really need a hammock, then maybe I could?! :)
This afternoon I photographed the Galpin Family in Audubon Park. The weather was cool and the sun was out …. what a great day to shoot! It’s been a nice change of pace to have such beautiful clear skies, this is when I wish I had a hammock, a warm quilt and good book. It’s Monday evening …. instead I’m in my office, working, wondering what I’m eating for dinner and listening to Randy’s band alias:orion practice in their studio. The other night Randy and I took the dogs for a walk and we stumbled upon a house in the neighborhood about a mile down that was having band practice. We of course paused for a moment, looked at each other, smiled and listened to the hum of a cover song. Randy was like, “Wow, they are kind of loud, are we that loud when we practice?” Yes Randy, ya’ll are! It doesn’t bother me, it’s almost become a comfort…heck- I don’t even need to turn the radio on. It’s been over a year since they’ve made the studio here at the house- I guess it doesn’t bother the neighbors either? So, I sit here…editing, taping the keyboard and listening to the music surround the house. This is my Monday :)

We have had some GORGEOUS weather the past two days in New Orleans! I couldn’t help but rush right home from today’s shoot and give ya’ll a little teaser from todays session. Jax just turned ONE! We went to a little park nearby our house and took these photos, the truck matched his outfit perfectly! Every now and then I get lucky with the rain. I’ve had to reschedule a couple of shoots lately because of the weather, it’s been a little unpredictable to say the least. Well the stars must have been aligned because I began my one hour 10am engagement session this morning and just as the clock struck 11, it started to drizzle! We kept saying, wow wouldn’t it be awesome to wrap up the session with a few rainy photos! Well then…..we felt a trickle! AWESOME! I was able to take a handful of photos before our clothes and my equipment was completely drenched.
