Jen Amato Photography Blog bio picture
  • Hi, my name is Jen and I am a Natural Light Photographer based out of New Orleans! Welcome! I specialize in Engagement, Maternity, Family, Children, and Birth Photography. As a wife and mom of 5, I understand how important capturing those fleeting moments are. Making my clients feel comfortable in front of the lens, photographing priceless memories and building relationships with people in the process are my main goals. There's always lots of fun couples, sweet families and precious babies gracing the presence of my site! Be sure to check back, I'm always posting new sessions! Click the "Information" tab above to email me if you're interested in scheduling a shoot :) I can't wait to hear from you!

Caroline :: Newborn

It was a pleasure getting to meet Caroline last week! She was so cute, cuddly and tiny! She slept for just about her entire session and did great with her positions! She was ready for her close up! Looking forward to watching this little princess grow and change over the next year! Can’t wait until next session! :)

Lyla :: 9 Months

Lyla is another one of my ‘Grow With Me’ kids! The weather was a little funky last week so her Mom asked if we could do an indoor shoot! It’s January and our weather can be pretty unpredictable here! So why not!? :) We headed to the International Hotel downtown and shot these using natural window light. There’s some cute spots in their lounge area! Anyway, it always nice to do something different, thanks Kristin for the suggestion!

Here are some of my favs from Lyla’s 9 Month shoot!

Check out those leopard shoes, too cute!!!Lyla found a mirror!

Matt & Alexis :: Wedding

Alexis & Matt married on January 14, 2012! They were my first couple to ring in the new year! It feels like yesterday that Alexis booked me for her Wedding. It was almost 2 years prior to her Wedding date and I was in awe at the meeting! I was so so honored that she enjoyed my photography that much to book that early! I feel like I have grown so much over the years, it truly made my day to photograph this special day for her and Matt! We both grew up in the same neighborhood so it’s been great getting to spend time with them!

Preparation was held at Alexis’ parents home, the Ceremony was at St. Matthew the Apostle Church in River Ridge, and the Reception was at Chateau Country Club. Her flowers were gorgeous and I truly have not seen my hometown church of St. Matthew look so beautiful! That is were I attended grammar school! I was so incredibly proud that night to be photographing in my church for the first time. This is where I attend church every Sunday. It was almost like I saw myself again as a child and then there I was holding my camera… a Wedding Photographer is who I became. Almost 15 years later! It was one of those surreal moments in life.

Thank you Matt & Alexis for having us there to document your day! What an honor! You guys look so happy and full of life! Just beautiful! Many blessings to you both in the future :)

Updated Availability

I can’t thank you all enough for the endless support. Since my last availability post, my schedule is completely booked solid until June 2012. That’s with 4-6 sessions scheduled per week and Weddings every other weekend. I wish I could take in more, but I know I won’t be able to keep up with the workflow. I will start a waiting list in case a spot becomes available in between. Thank you to my clients – you all mean so much to me!!

*To my ‘Grow With Me’ parents… Don’t worry ;) I have saved spots in between for your sessions**

Alexis :: Bridals

We headed to City Park to photograph Alexis’ Bridal Portraits! She looked so beautiful! I’ve been waiting to share these with you guys, but needed to wait until her Wedding was over :) I am looking forward to sharing those, too. Still editing…! It’s been so much fun getting to really know Alexis since the day she booked with me almost 2 years ago! We grew up in the same neighborhood, so of course we know lots of the same people! I had a great time with Alexis, her mom and sister at this shoot! Extra hands are always helpful for Bridal session!
