We did it! The New Orleans Saints won the SUPERBOWL! It still hasn’t really sunk in yet, don’t know if it ever will. Our city deserves this win, its just another way to keep our city fighting back after Katrina tore so much of it apart. Yesterday felt like Christmas x 100. There was just this spirit that the city carried yesterday, almost as if the world was at peace for a mere 24 hours. Strangers smiled at each other, horns blowing meant Go Saints, and instead of answering the phone “Hello”, you said “Who Dat?” It was crazy, it was emotional, it was memorable and exciting.
I woke up yesterday morning, bundled up in about 3 layers of clothes, drove myself to the park, turned my iPod on full blast and ran two miles. I came home, showered and decked myself out in complete black and gold attire. Almost like the first day of school- I had my uniform out the night before. My lucky shoes, my Saints Superbowl necklace, jeans and my new shirt. You would have thought I was 12 years old again. I dressed and went to church and there was nothing but Saint’s colors and total happiness pouring from the aisles. After church, football mode began! We brought armful after armful of food, drinks, icechests, and party supplies to my Grandmothers house. (Who lives right across the street from us) The whole gang (about 30 of us) met there and the party began. We had more food than the law allows, it was literally sinful. Everything was delicious, I totally indulged and needless to say its almost 2pm today and I’m still not hungry!
So the game starts and we are packed in front the TV like sardines. Play by play- I couldn’t move, I was glued to my spot. It was comforting and overwhelming all at the same time. I was sad the game seemed to fly by faster than the speed of light. I didn’t want it to end. Last night I told Randy, I guess this is what our wedding is going to feel like. All the hype, all the planning, the love all around and then BOOM it’s over! Incredible, yet its done :( That’s why I took alot of pictures because I wanted to remember what it felt like. Later that night when the game was over, we went downtown. Complete craziness – it was like something I had never seen before. Almost don’t have words for it. It was like Mardi Gras on steroids. People were hugging each other, screaming, riding on the hoods of cars, lighting fireworks, blaring Saint’s music, etc… It was unbelievable! Had to be there. I can only imagine what it was like in Miami too!
Here’s a few of our family enjoying some yummy football food and the perty weather before the game started!
Why do I love food photos so much? Because I love food? Yes. Because I grew up in a restaurant? Yes. Because I watch too much Food Network. Yes.

This was a joke – yet we can take whatever help we can get. Hey we could have won $50 and it could have paid for like a tablecloth or something. HAHA!!
