Our Wedding Invitations

Well, I can finally share this post because all of our wedding guests have received their invitations. I started off with a vision of creating an invitation that would reflect both Randy and I’s style. I love everything about photographs, so I KNEW we would incorporate some photos from our engagement session. Randy loves music, so including a little bit of that was a must. When we were taking our engagement photos, we searched around for the perfect backdrops that would reflect a bit of our funky style. When we reached the band poster wall in the French Quarter, I knew we had hit our target and that it would be the perfect image for the front of our invite. A mix of music and photography all in one.

As most of my readers may already know, Randy plays the bass guitar in his band, alias:orion. You wouldn’t believe how many guitar picks I find around the house, in the washing machine, outside in the grass, in his car, in my car, his jeans. EVERYWHERE! They are little pieces of him and always make me smile when I find them. I found this amazing online company that made custom guitar picks and I was determined to include them.

I started the invite journey about 5 months ago, searching and searching online until I found just what I was looking for. I made a folder on my computer of a mix of about 10 different invites that stood out to me. So months of emailing the invitation company back and forth and expressing exactly what I was going for….. our invitations came to life. No, they are not a formal invitation and no, its not “proper etiquette” to send these out. But, who made the rules? Sometimes you reach a certain point in your life when you start to create your own rules and strive to be different and unlike anyone else. Being different means being remarkable, being remembered, being unique.

I hope that when our guests received their invites, it put a smile on their face. That’s all we wanted…. oh, and to get them jazzed up about the WEDDING! I’ve been getting tons of texts and phone calls over the past 3 days of friends telling me how much they loved the invitations. Well, it was all worth it and I would do it all over again :)

Here is a peek of the process and the final result! Just a little over 3 weeks to go and I am so excited!!!

Here is the front and back side, you flip them over. They were printed on thick linen paper.

The enclosure cards that had some wedding info on them.

The guitar picks and sting. For the rope, we used a mix of black and tan.

This was our dining room last week. My aunts, cousin and grandmother came over to help. From about 8pm-12am! You can always count on my little brother, Michael to be MAKING COFFEE!! 10pm and he’s got the coffee out! I just so happen to catch him as he was walking in the dining room to see if they wanted some. HILARIOUS!
