Alicia & Mike :: Engagement

I photographed Alicia and Mike last week in River Ridge. Alicia arranged for the photos to be taken at her friends house that afternoon, so I met up with her that morning to check out the location and lighting. At around the noon the sun was very harsh, I was hoping when I arrived back at 4:30, it would have shifted a little. Still no luck when I came back for the shoot. Hmm, what was I going to do? Long story short, Alicia loves riding horses, so I knew when I pulled up and saw her in cowboy boots that I had the perfect plan. I said, “hop in my car, I’m taking ya’ll to my parents backyard a few streets down.” (I grew up having horses and a stable in my backyard, we are grandfathered in)

I never in million years would have used the barn, hay loft and rustic area in my parents backyard, it was as if a light bulb went off when I saw Alicia and Mike in the cowboy boots. So they agreed and we headed over to my parents. The whole time I was shooting I was wondering why I hadn’t thought to use it before, sometimes it just takes the right client for something to click in my head. I wanted to get some shots here while we waited another hour or so for the sun to shift back at house #1. Once I had my fill of barn shots, we headed back to Alicia’s friends house where tons of pumpkins, pups and fall themed decorations awaited. Alicia did a great job planning and organizing her shoot to be exactly what she has envisioned. I loved the pumpkin with their carved wedding date of 6-11-2011 as well! Overall, I had a great time photographing these two, the camera loved them. Alicia is stunning and yes, her eyes really are that bright!
