Printing my Personal Photos! (continued)

I don’t even know if anyone is really interested in the way I store my photos, but I figured I would share anyway. A couple of years ago, I realized that my photos were in a hundred different places. I had some in random mismatched albums, some in the paper packages they came in, some in frames…..they were all over! So I decided to get organized! I sat down one day and put them in order from beginning to end. This took a while but I was happy with the end result. I wanted albums that were uniformed, had protective archival paper inside, and were easy to store. So I came across these fun little red ones at Wal-mart that have some stitching on the front. I bought 20 thinking that would take me a while to fill up, actually went to 3 separate stores and bought all they had. If I ever see them again, I’ll probably buy more. I then labeled them with numbers 1-20, so I could keep them in order.

Sometimes I think people upload pics to their computer and totally forget about having prints made, as for me, I enjoy having the physical copies. I’ll usually wait until I have a few months of photos ready, then I’ll go ahead and print, organize by date, and then lastly fill my albums. Right now I keep them on the bookshelf in my room, but eventually I’d like to get a little covered cabinet to put them in.

So anyway, if you’re wondering what to do with all your photos, I would say the best thing to do would be get some nice albums to store them, mainly to protect your prints. Make a little investment in some nice books, it’ll definitely help keep your pics in order and it’s fun to keep up with!

The prints I frame for my house and the prints for my clients always come from my two professional printing labs that handle them with great care. As far as the quick prints that I put in my personal books, I’m typically printing like a few hundred at a time, so I like to find a local reasonably priced lab. Sam’s is great because they print on matte paper, the quality is good and they are like .15 cents… super cheap!

Happy Thursday!
