What an amazing turnout! Thank you thank you to all of my dear clients who booked this year! I just loved the setup… please enjoy some of my favorites :)

Here’s a little something new for you! I had the honor of photographing an all natural Waterbirth during Christmas week. My friend Dayna Dyle texted me that morning and asked if I was interested in helping document the birth of her friend’s baby at Touro. Dayna knew that Waterbirth is something that I’ve always been amazed by since finding out I was pregnant. Well even before I was pregnant, I always chatted with my friends about how this is something I am interested in. I understand the amount of dedication and strength it requires to have a natural birth, but it fascinates me. Lately I’ve been reading Hypnobirthing books and watching birth documentaries such as “Business of Being Born” & “Pregnant in America.” I highly recommend watching these if you are prego!

It was a wonderful day, I was at the hospital from about 11:30am til 8:30pm. The room was filled with meditation music and the occasional moans of Amy laboring. What a strong woman!! I could go on and on about how incredible it was to witness this birth, but I hope that my photos will show you a little glimpse at the day. Welcome to the world, Louis! You are just too precious!

Who remembers Gardner Joseph’s 1st Birthday that I photographed last year? Well it was on to round two and Gardner Joseph’s parents outdid themselves once again! This years theme was Country Western/Cowboy! I loved all the decorations, favors, the cake, food prepared by chefs, musicians, face painter, horsey rides. This was a dream party and belongs in a magazine! Thanks Gardner & Rachel for allowing me capture such a special day!

I often get the opportunity to photograph Rehearsal Dinner’s at Mother’s Next Door. Being that my Uncle owns the restaurant, I’ve formed a great relationship with Ronnie – the special events coordinator for the party room! So nice to get the referrals, Mother’s is such a unique place to have an event. LOVE the way the room photographs, so warm with lots of character. Casey’s mom contacted me prior to the event, wanting a mix of candids and group shots. So this past Friday, I was there to document the night! I love the emotion that Rehearsal’s have. There’s lots of laughs and typically some tears during speeches and slideshows, too. Casey and Rachel, you guys are a beautiful couple! I enjoyed working with your whole family, everyone was so sweet!

Loved the table centerpieces. All different themes – Mardi Gras, LSU, Saints, Jazz Fest, Hunting & Fishing, LA Seafood… very cute!

Wow!! This 1st Birthday Party was INCREDIBLE!!!! Every now and then I get asked to photograph parties and special events. This one in particular was a real treat! I drove to Baton Rouge a week or so ago to document Gardner’s 1st birthday party. You may remember that little cutie from when I took this 8 month photos at the Rural Life Museum.

I was excited when his mom, Rachel contacted me about his birthday party. I knew it was going to be fabulous and I sure was right! I walked up to the house and it was like as if I was flipping the pages in a magazine. The party was a Circus theme and there were so many beautiful details. There was a magician, a caricature artist, a clown who made balloons and painted faces, pony rides, a popcorn machine, cotton candy, chefs in the kitchen cooking gourmet food, party favors, a gorgeous birthday cake…. the list goes on and on!

Gardner will have so many photos to help remember his special day!! It was so much fun! Thank you Gardner & Rachel for giving me the opportunity to capture your little one’s 1st Birthday!

Ryan & Casey’s Wedding Rehearsal Dinner was held at Mother’s Next Door on Friday, July 15, 2011. As most of you know, this is my uncle’s Restaurant in the City. It’s become a great place to have any type of special event! I was excited to hear that Casey and Ryan chose the private party room for their Rehearsal!! :) I love photographing in that space, it has such New Orleans character and charm. Every now and then, the couple will ask me to photograph both days for them. Lots of times, it’s when they know they are going to have a good bit of out of town guests visiting. It gives us a chance to get lots of group shots that we don’t always have enough time to get on the Wedding day. Ryan and Casey are adorable together! I enjoyed photographing their Rehearsal Dinner. Look out for the next post up, it will be their Wedding Day! :)

Last Friday evening I photographed Stephanie and Chris’ Rehearsal. They asked me to come for a quick hour to remember their night. Stephanie and Chris are from New York and were having a destination wedding here in NOLA. More to come on their story once I post their wedding images. Still working on those! I captured a little bit of their ceremony rehearsal at House of Blues – The Parish, then a few images of them walking over to The Rib Room (rehearsal dinner location) and we even snuck in a few engagement images of the sweet couple before dinner started. I took a bunch, but here are just a few pics I wanted to share with you guys. Looking forward to posting their Wedding Photos soon! Happy Thursday… off to photograph a newborn :)

Yesterday I had a blast photographing the Guinness World Record Event for the Largest Mac & Cheese!! It was held in Fulton Square area right off Poydras St. in Downtown New Orleans. Chef John Folse and his crew cooked up over 2400 lbs of Mac & Cheese in a 300 year old pot! It was quite an experience to see such a large quantity of food being cooked at one time. The lady from the Guinness Book of World Records was out there as well taking final calculations to make sure they had beat the previous record. There were lots of people who came to volunteer their time to serve Mac & Cheese, some of which included my friend Mandy Strief, a few Rollergirls, a couple Honeybee’s. The food was served in a hand made Ceramic bowl made by the wonderful people from Magnolia School Dream Factory. This is place where developmentally delayed people get a chance to make crafty things and then sell them at Magnolia. The bowls were so beautiful, my mom and I bought a total of 12! I can’t wait to display them in my china cabinet, they 100% handmade and unique, I love them!

Here’s a look at yesterdays event!

You may remember Wesley & Erica from when I photographed their Engagement Portraits. I grew up with Wesley and our families are great friends. I was honored to photograph both their Engagement and Rehearsal Dinner. I remember Erica asking me if I wanted to be their Wedding photographer and I told her I wanted to enjoy going to her Wedding as a guest  :) I couldn’t help but think the entire time at their Wedding how I just wanted to go pick up the photographers extra camera and start firing away! So here I am again, stuck between a rock and a hard place. Our friends are all starting to get engaged and several have asked me to photograph their Wedding, do I shoot or it or enjoy the night celebrating with them? Still trying to figure out how to answer this one.

Their Rehearsal Dinner was at Cafe Giovanni, which is one of my favorite restaurants downtown. Delicious! So take a peek into their Rehearsal night, one of my favorite things is capturing people’s emotions. The room was full of love, heartfelt speeches, well wishes and people who truly care about Erica and Wes. It brought me back to the night of my Rehearsal Dinner and made me emotional. This is another thing I truly enjoy photographing.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Ramsey, your Wedding Saturday night was beautiful!

Every now and then I’ll have someone inquire about having me photograph a special event they are planning, whether it be a Child’s Birthday Party, an Engagement Party, a Wedding Rehearsal, etc.. I always enjoy shooting these gatherings because they are filled with so much excitement and love! I realize lots of times when it’s “your party” you forget about your camera! Before you know it, the event has flown by, you’ve forgotten to eat and most importantly, you didn’t get enough photos! That’s where I come in :) And the best part about it, I include a photo CD of all edited images if you book a special event.

On to the birthday girl! Although originally from here, Aubrey lives in Italy with her parents Christie and Scott. They come visit every summer and stay for a couple of months to spend time with their families. Last summer, they flew in so Christie could deliver Aubrey. One year later, here they are today!

We started Aubrey’s Birthday Party by photographing her in a few different outfits and getting some cute candid shots of her. After her little portrait session, she was ready to dive into her birthday cake! As you can see from the photos, she had a great birthday filled with lots of laughs and hugs. Check out the kid food, peanut butter & jelly and grilled cheese! YUM~

Christie & Scott- Thanks for letting me share in Aubrey’s 1st Birthday with ya’ll. I had a great time capturing such an unforgettable time in your little girls life!
